Guerrero accede a la presidencia de la Sociedad de Autores Españoles el 19 de mayo de 1948 y permanecerá en el puesto hasta su muerte en 1951. En este tiempo, intensifica las relaciones internacionales, organizando un encuentro de representantes de sociedades extranjeras, realiza viajes y, entre ellos, uno a América donde conoce a Xavier Cugat. También amplía la sede madrileña con la adquisición del Palacio Longoria, aún vigente.
